March Into Spring
If you are like me, you have already purchased a few seed packages and are looking forward to planting them as soon as the ground is warm enough. Or, if you are savvy, you are ready to plant them in trays indoors for transplanting later. We have had a very mild winter, which has left me feeling as if I will succeed this year in the garden. Never mind that I will only be planting a few things such as herbs and lettuce - the deer eat everything I put out. I Will Eat From My Garden This Year, even if I have to put a scarecrow on my patio.
Though winter seems way too long, it reminds me that seeds go through a wintering season where it seems they are dead. But the hardships, cold, and darkness the seed endures produces a resilience that enables it to spring forth through the soil and grow into a hearty plant which bears fruit.
Have you had more than your share of troubles in life? I have, but God is still good. Very good, indeed. When we keep our eyes on Him everything else fades. When we trust Him with every detail of our lives and the lives of those around us, we can face the darkness and winter, and trust spring will come. The difficulty is to keep our eyes on Him rather than on our troubles.
I heard someone tell a young person learning to drive, “If you keep your eyes on the ditch, that’s where you will steer.”
Keep the faith…for faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT seen!
